Jan. 16, 1925- Early Settler Passes Away Evan Davis, a prominent farmer and stockman, whose home was five miles south of Table Rock passed away Saturday, and funeral services were held today, and the interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery, by the side of his wife, who died several years ago. He has been a resident of this county 53 years. He is survived by two sons and a daughter. A brother Titus Davis resides at Lincoln and a sister Mrs. George Flory at Pawnee City. His oldest brother, John Davis was county clerk of Pawnee county two terms, from 1877-1881, later moving to Lincoln, where he died several years ago. Another brother, D. D. Davis, was an attorney, and practiced law in Pawnee City for several years, later moving to Lincoln, where he died. The father of the Davis boys was a soldier in a Wisconsin regiment and lost his life while in the service. EVAN DAVIS DIED AT HOME NEAR PAWNEE CITY PAWNEE CITY, Jan. 12- The funeral of Evan Davis, who died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ward Chapman, east of here, will be held in Pawnee City. Mr. Davis, who was over 70, was born in Wales and had been a resident of Pawnee county for over 50 years. Besides his daughter, two sons survive, Olin Davis of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Melvin Davis of this city, and a sister, Mrs. George Flory, of this city, and a brother Titus Davis of Lincoln.
