When she was one year old she and her mother came by train to Big Timber, Montana with Maude's sister and husband, Chloe and Clellie Booth. After a period of time, both families found two homesteads that had been relinquished south of Reed Point and settled there. This is where Evelyn grew up, walking four and a half miles to school each day. Evelyn had four siblings, three half brothers and one sister - Jack, Milo, Francis, and Lorraine. After Evelyn's mother married Milo Collings, the family continued to live on the land south of Reed Point for a few years. Evelyn remembers the walk to school; sometimes she rode a horse. She graduated from Reed Point High School in 1930. Shortly thereafter, she married George Myers. They had four children; George, Jack, Jim, and Lola. Evelyn's husband was killed in a very tragic accident when her oldest child was about nine years old. Evelyn and George had just bought land and a few cattle. This all had to go and Evelyn, devasted as she was, had to continue living and raising her children. She met Ted Hetland. He was a sheep shearer from Norway. He offered Evelyn security, and they were married. She and Ted had one child, Sandra. While Sandra was still young, Ted also died. They were living in Big Timber at the time. Again she had lost her husband. Evelyn and Howard Huyser had known each other in high school. They met again and were married December 29, 1970. the couple was married for 23 years. They spent some summers working for the Fish and Wildlife in the parks and around lakes in Montana. Evely and Howard lived in Polson, but after he became ill he resided in the Big Timber nursing home, where he passed away on February 2, 1993. In about 1996, Evelyn returned to Big Timber where she still lives. She is a great gardener, planting a large vegetable garden each year. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husbands George Myers, Ted Hetland, and Howard Huyser; mother, Maude Collins; brothers Milo, Jack, and Frankie Collins; sister Lorraine Lamb; daughter Lola McComb; daughter-in-law Desta Myers; grand-daughters Barb McComb, Vicki Sims; grandson Shannon Myers, great-grandson Mike Woodcock. Survivors include sons, George Myers of Big Timber, Jack (Betsy) Libby, Jim (Lois) Dillon, and Sandra Holman (Hollis) Hillman, Minn.; son-in-law Bob McComb, Albertson; grandchildren, Mary Gregorich (Ken), Debbie Blanchard (Lane), Shane Myers ( Pattie) Tammi Myers (Rex), Whitney Myllymaki (Tim), Brett Todd (Julie), Shelly Schubert (Greg), Brenda Baumgardner (Terry) Keith McComb, Kurt McComb, Penny Kinsfather (Pat), Gwen Grotjohn, Shawna Joslin.
