Description	:	Evelyn Mae (Covell) Nickulas, 83, of Centerville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on July 16, at Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehab Center in Brewster, MA. Fortunately, she was able to live at home up until a few months ago. Evelyn is survived by her 3 children, Lynn Nickulas of Croton, NY, Larry Nickulas of Centerville and Cindy Dacey and her husband Brian of Osterville. Eric Nickulas and his wife Meghan of Centerville, Ryan Nickulas and his husband Desmond Smith of CT, Kyle Dacey of Centerville and Sean Dacey of South Boston, Katelyn Milavsky and her husband Adam of NY, and Justin Edelstein of NY. Evelyn was also blessed to have six great grandchildren, Rileigh, Carson, Landon, Sebastian, Cynthia and Declan. Born in Boston on November 21, 1932, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Darius H. and Delia B. Covell both of Hyannis. Known to most as Ev, "Chicka," Muma and Nana, she was raised in Hyannis, graduated from Barnstable High School in 1950 and later went onto pursue her dream of becoming a nurse and graduated from Cape Cod Hospital School of Practical Nursing in 1952. Evelyn was best known for her kind words of advice to young mothers who had given birth, as she worked in the Maternity ward at Cape Cod Hospital for 25 years. She will fondly be remembered by numerous young women from Sandwich to Provincetown. As a young mother herself, she was active in the women's guild at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. She loved her daily walks and swimming at the "Y" when she was able. She enjoyed dancing, cutting out recipes from her many magazine subscriptions and making sure she cooked and shared them with her family. Nana loved reading the Cape Cod Times and sports page especially the articles including her grandchildren and managed to cut and save every one of them for their scrap books. Summertime fun included lobster cookouts, going to Covell's Beach (named after her uncle) and CBA in Centervile, watching her grandchildren grow-up and become young adults. She loved knitting, sewing, her flowers, cooking and reading current medical research. She looked forward to every holiday, because it meant spending time with her children and their families. Evelyn a former Barnstable High cheerleader, class of 1950, would like to leave all past, present and future "Red Raiders" one last cheer! "Chickalaka, Chickalaka Chow Chow Chow! A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 21, 2016 at 11AM, Our Lady of Victory Church 230 S Main St Centerville, MA 02632, Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery on Pine St, Centerville, MA 02632. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Wednesday July 20, 2016 from 5-7 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St. Hyannis, MA 02601. Memorial donations may be made to "A Baby Center", 320 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
