Read More	Concordia Blade Empire, Tues, 24 Jun 1980: EVERETT ROLAND BALTHAZOR Everett Roland Balthazor, son of Philip and Mary (Aslin) Balthazor was born Nov. 6, 1914 in Concordia, Kan. He attended the Concordia grade and High school along with his brothers and many friends. He also helped his Father on their farm 6 miles East of Clyde. On June 22, 1937, he was united in marriage to Virginia Sims at the Catholic Church in Concordia, Kan. To this union were born 5 children... Sonia, Gayle, Roland, Steven, and Gary. Everett's chosen occupation was Restaurant management. He was known in this area for putting out his famous Chicken and Homemade Noodles and Steaks at the 24-66 Cafe, located on highway 24 north of Beloit, Kan. He retired as food service manager for A.R.A. in 1973. His greatest concern in life was the welfare of his wife and 5 children. He enjoyed watching his 5 children bloom into beautiful men and women. His most Memorable experience was watching his two sons and Grandson Scott and nephew Fred, play Football. His son, Steve, who joined the Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War gave Everett great pride as he himself went off to war in 1943. Everett took sick in 1973 with Cancer and a bad heart. His faithful nurse during this time was his most beloved wife, who was helped by their two daughters. Our Lord called him to rest on June 16, 1980 at the K.U.M.C. in Kansas City at the young age of 65 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, George and Alfred and 1 Sister Ruby. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia, and his sons, Ron and wife, Sue of Kansas City, Mo., Steve and wife, Cathy, Concordia; Gary, Wichita; 2 daughters, Sonia and husband, Mervin Seehafer, Beloit; Gayle, husband Randy Halfhide, Concordia; and 14 grandchildren, Mary (Seehafer) Anderson, Scott, Tim, Ann and Lee Halfhide, Lisa, Suzette, Philip, and John Paul Balthazor, Steve Jr., Carrie, Michelle and Shawna Balthazor and 2 great grandchildren Stacy Anderson and Kara Seehafer. A brother Armand and Helen Balthazor, Concordia, a Sister-in-law Grace Balthazor, Concordia, many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, Elks, Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. Post 6242 in Beloit. Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. Thurs., June 19, 1980 at the St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Vering and the Rev. Henry Kieffer officiating. Opal Heidrick sand a solo in memory of Everett, "He Touched Me," and the St. John Choir sang many beautiful hymns. Casket Bearers were Bob Balthazor, Bob Nicholson, Jim Balthazor, Greg Balthazor, Fred Balthazor and Dale Balthazor all were his Nephews. His resting place is Mt. Calvery Cemetery in Clyde, Kansas. Memorials can still be given to St. Johns Memorial fund in Beloit, Kansas. Everett, who loved life wrote a letter to be read at his Funeral Mass. We his Family wish to share this letter with you: Dear Loved Ones: I hope by now that some of the initial shock of my departure has begun to wear away- and that the kind carpet of pleasant memories has started to unroll. I only ask one thing: no sad tears for me, please. Every wonderful, delightful thrill, experience and emotion life has to offer has been mine. Rather, recall me with a fond smile as the husband and father and friend who shared your laughter, tears and dream through the years. I've laughed a lot, cried a little - I've seen a thousand sunsets and a few fresh dawns, walked in April rain and watched an ocean roll. I loved a woman and was loved in return. I've cradled my daughters in my arms and walked with the hands of young sons in my own. Many victories were mine and they gave life zest. I've had defeats and they made me strong. In my youth I had my brothers as companions and the love of my parents and life was sweet. And when age came I stood at the edge of a crowd and watched my daughters grow into young ladies and heard the roar of the crowd for victory for my sons. Life was good, I saw robins in the spring - watched a shooting star or two - enjoyed the snows of winter, walked under a harvest moon and stood a time or two on top of a high hill and watched the flickering lights of town. Think of the happy times: The Christmas mornings, the grandchildren, the graduations, the weddings - the Thanksgiving dinners, the vacations in the mountains and most of all remember the thousands of times we were together as a family. For no man dies as long as there is one person left in the world who remembers him with fond recall, and shares a thought with him, though he has gone ahead. Some day one of you may be on the lake and you might feel a soft warm breeze across your cheek and you will know I am there. On Christmas Eve, if there is a small star in the sky, look at it with love and let it come into your heart and remember me. A man never really dies while there are those on earth who loved him. A man is never gone as long as there are those who remember him with fondness and as long as his memory evokes a wistful smile. All who have loved, and who have been loved, have earned a piece of immortality. No sad tears for me please. Always love your God and follow the teachings of our Lord.
