Read More	CRISFIELD MATRON DIED IN BALTIMORE Mrs. Fannie Gibson Passed Away Wednesday Afternoon FUNERAL SERVICES THIS AFTERNOON One of Crisfield's finest and most esteemed citizens, Mrs. Fannie Gibson, wife of Mr. William E. Gibson, prominent retired business man, passed away at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, at about 5:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. Mrs. Gibson has been in failing health for several months and had been a patient at the Baltimore hospital for about a week. Born in Crisfield, where she spent her entire life, she was the daughter of the late Elmer R. Gandy, former Mayor of Crisfield, and Mrs. Mary E. Gandy, both of whom were prominent in the early life and development of this city. Mrs. Gibson held the distinction of being the first baby girl born in what was then known as Crisfield proper. She was seventy years of age. Mrs. Gibson, who was of the sweet, motherly type, was a member of the Immanuel M. E. Church where she attended faithfully and was active in a number of its organizations. She was a member of the Mites Society of that church and was always willing to cooperate with other members toward the improvement and the work of the group. Willing at all times to aid others less fortunate than herself and to do anything possible to help her friends, acquaintances and even the stranger who chanced to pass her way, Mrs. Gibson enjoyed a wide circle of friends whose heartfelt sympathies are extended to the bereaved family. In her passing Crisfield has lost one of its finest, most respected citizens and her place can never be filled in the hearts of those who loved her. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Aldean Dize, wife of Senator L. Elwood Dize, and Miss Este Gibson. One sister. Mrs. Nellie A. Green, of Philadelphia, Pa., two brothers, John Gandy and E. Reeve Gandy and two grandchildren, Miss Elaine Dize, a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, and Miss Mary Louise Dize, both children of Senator and Mrs. Dize, also survive. Funeral services will be held from her late home on upper Main street this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. C. M. Elderdice, pastor of the Mt. Pleasant M. P. Church and the Rev. J. R. Bicking, pastor of, the Immanuel M. E. Church, officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in the Crisfield cemetery. The Crisfield Times, February 24, 1939 pg.1
