Sept. 5, the body being brought here by her daughters, Miss Celia Davis of Portland, and Mrs. Ellis A. Johnson of Seattle, following services that were held in the First Christian church in the former city on Sept. 7. She would have been 92 years of age on Sept. 13. Fannie Raper Davis was a pioneer of Pawnee City, being brought to this city by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Raper, from Indiana when a child of a few months of age. Her father was engaged in the grocery business in this city for many many years, first with his relative, David Butler, who was Nebraska's first Governor, and later with M. J. Miller. Mr. Raper known to all residents of the early days as "B", was a legislator from Pawnee county through the years of 1906-1910. Mrs. Davis was the widow of David D. Davis, an early day lawyer of Pawnee City, as well as being the sister of the late John B. Raper, who served southern Nebraska as district judge for a great many years until his death in 1938. The Davis family moved to Lincoln in 1904, when their four daughters and a son all graduated from the University of Nebraska, and in which city two of the daughters, Celia and Dorothy taught in the Lincoln public schools. In 1926 following the death of husband and father, the mother and two daughters moved to Portland, having been preceded by the two other daughters who had married a moved to Oregon. The son, Lloyd, died during the first World War, while in training in California in 1918. Mrs. Davis was a lifelong consistent and active member of the Christian church, first in Pawnee City, then in Lincoln and for the past 25 years of the First Christian church in Portland, where she attended the Sunday school and church services up to the time of her illness. Surviving Mrs. Raper are the following children: Daughters, Mrs. E. A. Johnson of Seattle, Misses Celia and Dorothy Davis and Mrs. Mildred Hall, all of Portland; grandchildren, Capt. Albert Hall, with the U.S. flying forces in Japan; David Hall, San Francisco, and Mrs. Everett (Margaret) Johnson of Roseburg, Ore., and four great-grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Phil (Lillian) Easterday, Banning, Calif. Local relatives are Miss Alice Brackett, a teacher in the Pawnee City public schools; Mrs. James (Helen) Herries, Pawnee City, and Miss Florence Butler, Lincoln.
