Description	:	This community was saddened Sunday to learn of the passing of Mrs. Fanny Duey, at the home of her son, Fred C. Duey, north of town. Mrs. Duey had just returned at about 11 o'clock that morning from spending the winter with her children, and suffered the fatal heart attack before 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Duey had spent the most of the winter at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jim Malowney and Mr. Malowney at Kearney. Mrs. Duey had just returned at about 11 o'clock that morning from spending the winter with her children, and suffered the fatal heart attack before 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Duey had spent the most of the winter at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jim Malowney and Mr. Malowney at Kearney. On Saturday they had taken her to Grand Island, where she spent the night in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. John Dermody and Mr. Dermody. Sunday morning Mr. and Mrs. Dermody brought her to the home of her son, Fred Duey, just north of town. She appeared to be in good health and was showing Mr. Dermody some pictures when she complained of a pain in her chest, and he helped her to the davenport as the fatal attack occurred. Mrs. Duey was a high esteemed pioneer resident of this community. She is survived by three sons, George of Shubert; Clarence of Falls City; and Fred of Chester; four daughters: Mrs. Will Roberts and Mrs. Lyle Wright, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. May Malowney of Kearney; and Mrs. Herman Thomas of Kinglsey, Iowa. Her husband and a son, John, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon. Chester Herald, Thursday, March 30, 1939 ======= Fanny Malinda Gebhart was born November 13th, 1861, in Cumberland county (sic), Penn., and died at the home of her son, Fred, in Chester, Nebraska, March 26, 1939, aged 77 years, 4 months and 13 days. On February 15, 1883, she was united in marriage to Jacob Duey, at Plainsfield (sic), Pa. To this union eight children were born: Muriel Elizabeth Richards, John Cassell, who died in the strength of young manhood, August 25, 1908; Clarence Martin, Ida Mae Malowney; Frederick Carl; Ethel Janet Wright; and Grace Bernice Thomas. (NOTE: George E. was omitted from this list.) Mrs. Duey came with her husband to a farm near Belleville, Kans., in 1885. After seven years there they moved to a farm near Chester, Neb., and were active in farming until 1920, when they retired to a home in Chester, Nebr. Her husband died July 17th, 1931. Besides seven children, all of whom were present at the funeral, Mrs. Duey is survived also by a sister, Mrs. Ida Brehm, who lives in Holly Springs, Pa., thirty grandchildren; two of which are great-grandchildren. There are many more relatives as the name, Duey, would indicate. Mrs. Fanny Duey was a choice spirit. "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joys of thy Lord." The funeral service was largely attended at the Methodist Church on Thursday. The funeral sermon was preached by her pastor, the Rev. C.G. Ellis. Burial at the Chester cemetery (sic).
