Description	:	On July 8, 1859, Jacob Duey was born near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the seventh child of a sturdy Pennsylvania family. In search of opportunity he came to Illinois in 1881. He returned and was married to Fanny M. Gebhart on February 15, 1883. In 1885 they moved to a farm near Belleville and after seven years moved near Chester, Nebr., actively farming until March of 1920 when they moved to their little home in Chester in retirement. Read More	On July 8, 1859, Jacob Duey was born near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the seventh child of a sturdy Pennsylvania family. In search of opportunity he came to Illinois in 1881. He returned and was married to Fanny M. Gebhart on February 15, 1883. In 1885 they moved to a farm near Belleville and after seven years moved near Chester, Nebr., actively farming until March of 1920 when they moved to their little home in Chester in retirement. During their active pioneeriog (sic) life eight children were born into their home, the eldest son, John, succumbing to illness in August of 1908 at the age of 19 years. The seven remaining children have all married and established their own homes. For nearly four years he had suffered in varying degrees as the result of a light stroke. Since early in June of this year he was confined to his bed and endured much suffering and pain. Kind and loving hands administered to his comfort in every way. On the afternoon of July 17 after having rallied to bid his loved ones a beautiful farewell, he passed peacefully to the great beyond at the age of 72 years and 9 days leaving to grieve at his parting a faithful wife, 4 daughters, Elizabeth Richards of Los Angeles, Calif., Mae Malowney of Kearney, Nebr., Ethel Wright of What Cheer, Iowa, Grace Thomas of Hebron, Nebr.; three sons, Clarence, Fred, and George of Chester; 22 grandchildren; one brother, Park Duey; two sisters, Mrs. Phil Throne and Mrs. John Smarsh of Chester; many relatives, neighbors and friends. In the winter of 1885 he was converted into the Methodist Episcopal church (sic). From his faith he never wavered an instant. During his last illness when his lamp of consciousness dimmed and glowed often fragments of prayers or the words of a favorite hymn would escape his lips as they quivered in pain.
