Mr. Duey, a retired farmer, and his wife went to Phoenix early this year for his health and to spend the winter. Mr. Duey was born June 2, 1896, in Thayer county (sic), near Chester. He was married at Chester to Miss Mae Aupperle of Chester. The couple established their home at Chester and in 1934 came to Richardson county (sic) where they have since lived at Shubert and at Falls City. Besides his widow, Mr. Duey is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elton Steadman, Maryville, Mo., and Mrs. Oral Davis, Fairfax, Mo.; two brothers, Clarence Duey, Falls City, and Fred Duey, Chester; four sisters, Mrs. May (sic) Malowney, Omaha, Mrs. William Richards and Mrs. Lyle Wright, both of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Herman Thomas, Lyons, Colo., who was also wintering in Phoenix. There are seven grandchildren. The body of Mr. Duey was being sent from Mesa, Ariz., today and is expected to arrive here at 12:21 p.m. Monday over the Burlington railroad and will be taken to the Dorr-Philpot and Reavis-Macomber funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Duey will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the First Methodist church (sic) in charge of Rev. Albert B. Gray. Burial will be at Chester. The body of Mr. Duey will lie in state at the church from 9 o'clock until the funeral hour. The Falls City Journal (Falls City, NE), Saturday, March 7, 1959 ===================================================== George Duey, son of Jacob and Fannie Duey, was born June 2, 1897 near Chester, one of eight children. He left this earthly house March 6, 1959 at Mesa, Arizona, having been preceded in death by one brother, John, at the age of 21 years. On November 6, 1917 he was united in marriage to Miss Mae Aupperle at Chester, and to this union came two daughters. Mr. Duey was a long time member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and a life time member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Elton Steadman of Maryville, Mo. and Mrs. Oral Davis of Fairfax, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Mae Malowney of Omaha, Mrs. Wm. Richards and Mrs. Lyle Wright of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Herman Thomas of Lyons, Colo.; two brothers, Clarence of Falls City and Fred of Chester; seven grandchildren, Glenda, Carolyn, Suzanne and James Davis, Charles, Gene and David Steadman; together with many, many friends. Funeral services were held on March 11, 1959 at Falls City with burial in the Chester cemetery (sic). =============================================== Pallbearers and flower bearers have been chosen for the funeral of George Duey, Shubert, a former Falls Cityan (sic), to be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the First Methodist church (sic) here. Mr. Duey, who was vacationing in Arizona, died at Mesa. Jess Barker, Raymond Bourke and Harloy Platter, all of Shubert; Harry Rieke, Nemaha; J.R. Steadman, Stella, and Orrie Messler, Hiawatha, will serve as pallbearers. Flower bearers will be Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Burke, Mrs. Platter and Mrs. Messler. Mr. Duey and Miss Mae Aupperle were married Nov. 8, 1917, at Chester. Mr. Duey was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and he was also a member of the Odd Fellows lodge. Rev. Albert B. Gray will conduct the service. The body of Mr. Duey is here at the Dorr-Philpot and Reavis-Macomber funeral home and from 9 o'clock Wednesday morning will lie in state at the church until the funeral hour. The body of Mr. Duey will be taken overland to Chester where a graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. Duane D. Hutchinson, pastor of the Methodist church at Chester in the Chester cemetery (sic).
