Description	:	Fay Louise Beavers, daughter of Arthur Ray and Dora (White) Ray, was born March 29,1904, at Edmund (sic), Oklahoma. She passed away in Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska on Thursday, July 18, 1996, at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 19 days. She passed away in Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska on Thursday, July 18, 1996, at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 19 days. As a child she moved with her family to a farm north of Nelson where she grew up. Fay graduated from Nelson High School in 1921, immediately received a teaching certificate and at the age of 17 began teaching in a one room rural schoolhouse in Nuckolls County. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she played basketball, and received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Fay went on to teach school in Davenport, Edgar and Ralston, Nebraska. June 1, 1931, Fay was married to Loyal Beavers. They settled in Edgar where Fay taught school and Loyal operated a grocery store. After retirement they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. They raced thoroughbred horses in Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Her husband passed away March 25,1994, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Fay was a member of the Eastern Star and PEO philanthropic organization. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Melanie Ann Beavers; a sister, Nola Ray; and a brother, Wilfred Ray. Survivors include two sons, Valdean Ray Beavers and his wife Lenore of Ogallala, Nebraska, and Paul Beavers and his wife Dorene of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Doris Menke and Hazel Wheeland, both of Nelson; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, 1996, at 11 a.m. from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by organist Ivan Schafer playing selections of "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers were Gary Beavers, Bradley Beavers, Paul Buresh, Gregg Beavers, Brenner Beavers and Lonnie Wheeland. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
