Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Patzfahl officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Faye was born on July 5, 1928 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Robert Patrick and Ruth Gann Vernon. She was employed for 48 years at Gem Dandy as an Executive Secretary. She was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher, member of various committees and was a member of the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lee Griffin, Jr.; brother, Ralph Vernon; sister, Barbara Wright and three infant brothers. She is survived by her brother, Sammie Vernon and wife, Lorene of Stoneville; sister, Margaret Moore of Mayodan; sister-in-law, Beulah Vernon; aunt, Edith Purgason and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall and other times at Faye's home. The family would like to thank Brenda Bailey, Margie Curry, Javan Vernon, Sally and Richard Highfill for all the support, care and love they gave Faye which enabled her to live at home for so long. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockingham County Council on Aging, In-Home Health Services, PO Box 1915, Reidsville, NC 27323-1915 or Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27320. Ray Funeral Home in Madison is serving the Griffin family.
