Read More	Stratford Courier July 20, 1950 Obituary Ferdinand W. Holt Ferdinand William Holt, son of Joseph and Martha Holt, was born in Webster County, near Dayton, Iowa, Dec. 11, 1884. He had been in poor health for some time and passed away on July 8, 1950, in the home of his sister and nephew, Mrs. Minnie Allen and Lester Allen, near Burnside, Iowa, at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 27 days. On April 14, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Mabel Johnson of Stratford, Iowa. He spent most of his life in Iowa and was engaged in business at Stratford for several years and later at Maurice and Montezuma, Iowa. After his health failed and he retired from business, he had since lived in Boone. Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers. Surviving besides his wife are a brother, Clyde of Boone, three sisters, Effie and Vesta Holt of Boone, and Mrs. Minnie Allen of near Burnside. He is also survived by four nieces, three nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ferd trusted fully in God and often remarked that he had lived on this earth long enough and was ready to go at any time. He was a devoted husband and brother, always willing to help others and never thought of self. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, July 11, at 2 o'clock in the Jackson funeral home at Stratford, preceded in by a brief prayer service at 1 o'clock in the home of his sister, Mrs. Minnie Allen, near Burnside. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery, north of Stratford. The Rev. H.G. Wallentine of the Open Bible church in Boone, assisted by the Rev. S.C. Blumhagen of the Baptist church in Burnside, were in charge of the services. Music was furnsihed by Mrs. Merlin Christopherson. The pallbearers were: Elmer Jacobson, Einar Ostbloom, Wilbur Tigner, Raymond Ferguson, Albert Larson, and Roy Olson.
