Description	:	FULLERTON — Fern B. Smith, 94, of Fullerton died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Fullerton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home. The Revs. Ken and Mary McQueen and Vern Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 20, 1920, to Chris and Dora (Skow) Sonderup. The Revs. Ken and Mary McQueen and Vern Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 20, 1920, to Chris and Dora (Skow) Sonderup. She is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Jeanie Smith of Grand Island, Elwyn and Hata Smith of Cedar, Minn., Paul Ed and Lois Smith of Grand Island, Donn and Susan Smith of Fullerton, and Carroll and JoAnn Smith of Phillips; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris Fenstemaker of Fullerton, Elna and Dick Boardman of Grand Island, and Ruthie Bisel of Fullerton; and four sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sonderup and Judy Sonderup, both of Fullerton, Wanda Sonderup of Central City, and Virginia Miller of Scottsbluff. Also surviving are four grandsons, Scott (Annie) Smith of Lincoln, Michael and Elisabeth Smith of St. Charles, Ill., Steven and Sally Smith of Grand Island, and Evan Smith of Phillips; a granddaughter, Megan (Smith) and husband, Jerry Hendon, of Lincoln; a stepgranddaughter, Jill Staricha and husband, Doug, of Minnesota; and six great-grandchildren. She was baptized and confirmed at Saint Peter Lutheran Church in the North Logan Community in Howard County near Wolbach. She attended country school near her home. She was the oldest of 10 children. In 1944, she moved with her family to Nance County, north of Fullerton. In 1947, the family joined the First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton. On Sept. 16, 1951, she married Paul E. Smith. They made their home on the farm northwest of Fullerton. This union was blessed with five sons. They later joined the United Methodist Church in Fullerton in the early 1990s. Fern was very active in the church, Sunday school, and Farm Bureau. She was an extremely excellent seamstress and sewed for many people. She loved to cook, bake, decorate cakes, garden, and enjoyed flowers. Family was very important to Fern. She entertained many people around her dining room table. Her cookie jar was always full of chocolate chip cookies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on Dec. 16, 2003; her parents; and six brothers, Norman, Dale, Milo, Lee, Larry, and Vern.
