Description	:	Ferne Combs, 92, was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 1916 in Woonsocket, South Dakota to Mabel and Pete Lund. She died June 14, 2009 at the Superior Good Samaritan Center. In 1922 she moved to Emerson, Nebraska where she grew up and attended school, graduating from the twelve grade in May, 1935. In July 1935 she went to Omaha to work where she met Jerry. They were married on December 5, 1937 at Papillion, Nebraska. Read More	Ferne Combs, 92, was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 1916 in Woonsocket, South Dakota to Mabel and Pete Lund. She died June 14, 2009 at the Superior Good Samaritan Center. In 1922 she moved to Emerson, Nebraska where she grew up and attended school, graduating from the twelve grade in May, 1935. In July 1935 she went to Omaha to work where she met Jerry. They lived in Omaha for 2 years and then in Franklin, Nebraska before moving to Superior in 1941 when Jerry found employment at the Ideal Cement Plant. To this union 3 sons were born, Dennis, Michael, and John. Ferne was baptized at St Lukes Lutheran Church in Emerson and later transferred membership to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Superior. Ferne served 9 years on the Portland Heights school board. She was a past president of the Eagles Auxiliary and a 3 year trustee of the same. She sold Avon, worked at the old Bon Ton Cafe and at Ben Franklins for 20 years for Roland Wages, retiring in 1979. Ferne enjoyed her family and home, loved to work outdoors in her flower gardens and yard, always had a big garden and did lots of canning. She enjoyed music and dancing. Ferne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry, and one great granddaughter. Survivors include sons Dennis Combs and wife Carolyn, Michael Combs and wife Sharon, and John Combs, all of Superior; grandchildren Jeff Combs and wife Brenda, Superior, Michael L Combs and wife Angel, Lincoln, NE, Larisa Combs, North Platte, NE, Amber Kenney and husband Dan, Jacksonville, FL, and Jon Combs, Superior; and 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends. Services for Ferne Combs are 2:00 P.M. Wednesday June 17, 2009 at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Superior with Melissa Wilt officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Ne. Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
