He departed this life on Friday, April 14, 1995, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 78 years, 5 months, and 3 days. Jerry grew up as a young boy attending rural Pleasant Ridge School District #80 and later attended Bostwick School. On November 5, 1937, Jerry was united in marriage to Ferne Lund at Papillion, Nebraska. This union was blessed with the birth of three sons, Dennis, Michael, and John. The couple lived in Omaha, Nebraska, then Franklin, Nebraska, before moving to Superior in 1941 where Jerry found employment with the Ideal Cement Company. Jerry retired in 1979 after 38 years with ideal. Jerry was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Masonic Lodge #121 A.F. and A.M. both of Superior. He had been a member of the Superior Elks Lodge. He had also been a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Mildred Miller. Survivors include his wife Ferne of Superior, Nebraska; Sons, Dennis Combs and wife Carolyn of Superior; Michael Combs and wife Sharon of Fremont, Nebraska; John Combs and wife Linda of Superior; Sister Maxine Keim and husband Louis of Nelson, Nebraska; Mother-in-law Mabel Frye of South Sioux City, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
