She had been in failing health for some time) and the past few weeks confined to her bed. Tuesday she was stricken with the second stroke of paralysis, which rendered he unconscious. Because of her weak physical condition, it was known that death was near and her children and near relatives, most of whom live in distant states, were notified and at once were on their way to her bed side. The deceased lived most of her life in Carroll county, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce, residing at Dedham, in the early history of the county. Soon after her marriage to Mr. Border, with her husband, she took up her residence at Coon Rapids where the family of three children were reared. Mrs. Flora Bruce Border was admired by a large circle of friends She was a woman of many virtues—a loving wife and mother, and her passing brings great grief to her family and friends. Coon Rapids Enterprise Dec 31, 1926 Page 1 The funeral of Mrs. S.F. Border was held Sunday in the M. E. Church, jointly by Rev. W. F. Clayburg and Rev. C. W. Hautzenrader. Rev. Clayburg preaching the funeral sermon from a Bible text selected by the deceased: Revelations 21-4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying; neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away. Flora Leoti Bruce, daughter of John and Flora Bruce, was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, August 26th, 1869 and departed this life December 23, 1926, aged 57 years, 3 months and 27 days. In early childhood or parents moved to Audubon County, later to Dedham, where she lived until her marriage to Simon F. Border January 20th, 1891. She has resided in Coon Rapids her entire married life. To this union were born three sons, Millard F. of Coon Rapids, Paul B. of Clatskaine, Oregon, Lauren L. of Mid West, Wyoming, all of whom survive her. Besides her son she leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, Harry W. Bruce of Jackson, Minnesota, Charles D. Bruce of Snyder, Colorado, and one sister Josephine I. Bruce, of this place. Some years ago she united with the Methodist Church of this place under the ministry of Rev. Barton. She was of a retiring disposition, a devoted wife and mother, her husband children always first in her thoughts and attention. As a friend and neighbor, she was steadfast and loyal. She bore her affliction without murmuring and helped others by her example of patience and fortitude. Her faith in the Lord was an inspiration to those of her friends who had the privilege of visiting her. What is our loss is her gain.
