Description	:	Coon Rapids Enterprise June 16, 1922 Mrs. Flora Bruce died at her home in Coon Rapids Wednesday afternoon, surrounded by her family. She had been failing in health for sometime, due to extreme old age, being in her 84th year. Her children, who live at a distance, were summoned last week and arrived several days before she departed, so that all her children and herself had the enjoyment of meeting at the close of mother's earthly life. Read More	Coon Rapids Enterprise June 16, 1922 Mrs. Flora Bruce died at her home in Coon Rapids Wednesday afternoon, surrounded by her family. She had been failing in health for sometime, due to extreme old age, being in her 84th year. Her children, who live at a distance, were summoned last week and arrived several days before she departed, so that all her children and herself had the enjoyment of meeting at the close of mother's earthly life. The deceased was a woman of charming spirit, cheerful and happy at all times and of active mind despite her advanced years. She lost her husband by death many years ago but kept her family around her yet of late years made her home with her daughter, Miss Josephine, who gave her very kindly and affectionate care. The Enterprise has been furnished with the following particulars of the good woman's life by relatives: Flora McDonald Donaldson, the youngest of a family of nine children, was born near Toronto, Canada, August 3rd, 1838, and departed this life June 14, 1922, aged 83 years, 10 months and 11 days. When a small child her parents moved to Polo, Illinois, where her life was spent until after her marriage to John H. Bruce on March 2nd, 1859. Soon after this they moved to Keokuk, Iowa, where they remained ten years, coming west to Anita, thence to Audubon county, later to Dedham where she lived until about eleven years ago when she came to Coon Rapids. To this union were born three sons and two daughters, H. W. Bruce of Alpha, Minn., S. W. .Bruce, deceased, of Jackson, Minn., C. D. Bruce of Yuma, Colorado, Mrs. S. F. Border and Josephine I. of Coon Rapids. At the age of seventeen Mrs. Bruce was converted and became a member of the United Brethren church, retaining her membership in that society until some twenty-five years ago. when she united with the Christian church of this place. For over thirty years she has been afflicted and during, the past ten has been a shut-in, but during these times of suffering her conflation has been in God's word and the thought of meeting her loved ones gone before, her husband having passed beyond nineteen years ago and her son, S. W., two years ago. Funeral services this afternoon at 2:30 at the Christian church.
