She lived with her family on various farms in the Pattonsburg area and attended a one-room school known as Jack Oaks. In 1898 she moved with the family to Fort Scott and later to Uniontown. She lived with her family on various farms in the Pattonsburg area and attended a one-room school known as Jack Oaks. In 1898 she moved with the family to Fort Scott and later to Uniontown. The family lived on various farms with the best know being the Tennyson Place. After Tom's death, Flora moved to Uniontown. She purchased a small white house located in the Kent Edition from the Stroud family. This was her home until her death in 1978. Various teachers of the Uniontown schools lived with Flora. On May 9, 1952, Flora married Arthur Chandler. They were members of the Presbyterian Church at Petersburg, and when it dissolved, they became members of the Uniontown United Methodist Church. After Arthur's death in August of 1963, Flora continued to live in her home. She was active until New Year's Day of 1975, when she suffered a stroke which left her confined to a wheelchiar. Flora died June 10, 1978, after a lingering illness associated with the stroke. Flora was buried alongside Tom in the Uniontown Cemetery. ******** 25 years Ago (1974) from the Fort Scott Newspaper in 1999. "Eighty-nine-year-old Flora Chandler of Uniontown is about the "youngest" great-great-grandmother that ever was. Blessed with good health and a sharp memory, she has been able to live a rich, full life. Her life is guided by her own personal creed: 'Don't forget the past, but don't live in it. Always have something to look forward to.' Also the Psalmist gave direction to her life in 'This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.' She resolved years ago that life can be happy and beautiful. She enjoys growing things. 'Sure it takes a hoe and backbone,' Mrs. Chandler declared, 'but it's the results that count.'"
