Friends gathered to pay tribute not only from the community, but from far distant points when the services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Uniontown Baptist church. A great majority remained out of doors. Very beautiful were the floral tokens banked around the casket. The family piece was a blanket of red roses, inscribed "Father," a spray from grandchildren, spray from brother's family, huge wreath from Bourbon County Democratic Central Committee, Redfield Ladies' Aid, I. O. O. F., Uniontown Friendly Bible class, First National Bank, Springfield, Colo., and Holt family there and Holts of Walsh, Colo., numerous neighborhood pieces and family friends. A quartet composed of Robert Reed, Warren Snider, Mrs. Ed Holt, Mrs. Fred Swink, accompanied by Mrs. Black, sand "Does Jesus Care," and "Beautiful Isle." A beautiful solo, "No Night There," was sung by Mr. Warren Snider, with Mrs. A. B. Konantz at the piano. The Rev. O. F. Potter, former pastor, Baptist minister of Kansas City, conducted the fitting service. He took for the topic of his discourse, 1 Cor. 15:54: "Death is swallowed up in victory." His eulogy spoke of characteristics that inspired friendships, a man of generous impulses, who went out of his way to help others. He had a genial disposition and had been devoted to his late wife and children, there being nine, all of whom are living. He will be missed in the community where he wielded a strong influence. The minister concluding spoke of Paul's words which give hope to look beyond the veil that separates the visible and invisible worlds. The interment took place beside his wife in the Uniontown cemetery, where a long procession of cars followed. Grandsons were pall bearers: Charles, Fred, and Siegle McKinnis, Gilbert and Jake Underwood, and Delbert Russell. Attending from a distance were: Harvey McKinnis, Springfield, Colo., Jim McKinnis, Walsh, Colo., Charles McKinnis and family, Pattonsburg, Mo., and Oklahoma relatives. Siegle McKinnis, son of Robert and Ellen McKinnis, was born in Harrison County, Mo., June 22, 1861, and departed this life May 20, 1933, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 28 days. He was married to Effie Burris Jan. 18, 1884, who preceded him in death three years. To this union were born nine children, all of who survive: Milton and Roy McKinnis, Mrs. Flora Kent, Mrs. Hazel Underwood, Mrs. Ruth Smith, Mrs. Sam Holt, all of Uniontown, Kan.; Mrs. Grace Russell of Redfield, Kan.; Harvey of Springfield, Colo., and Jim of Walsh, Colo.He is survived by one brother, Chas. McKinnis of Pattonsburg, Mo. Mr. McKinnis is the grandfather of 22 children and 4 great grandchildren. also 3 nieces and one nephew who are present today. Mr. McKinnis came to Kansas from Harrison County, Mo., 35 years ago and from that time on he has been a resident of Bourbon County, where he has been engaged as stockman and real estate business. He has been devoted father, a good neighbor, and progressive citizen and an accommodating friend to all. ----- THE CICERONE May 25, 1933 Died Siegel McKinnis The funeral for Siegel McKinnis, highly esteemed citizen, was held from the Baptist church Sunday, May 21, at 3:00 o'clock with several hundred sympathizing friends and associates paying tribute to his memory. A profusion of floral offerings attested esteem and sympathy. The family piece, a blanket of red roses, was inscribed "Father," spray from brother and family, others from Democratic Central Committee, First National Bank of Springfield, Colo. And the Holt families of Springfield and Walsh, Colo., sprays from churches, lodges and neighbors and friends. The Rev. O. F. Potter, former pastor, conducted the impressive but simple rites . . . He dwelt on the high character of Mr. McKinnis, a man of generous impulses and one who lived a life of service, genial in disposition, a man of highest integrity of life, one who left blessed memories to his children. Quartet of Mrs. Ed Holt, Mrs. Fred Swink, Robt. Read and Warren Snyder sang. Internment took place in the Uniontown cemetery beside his wife with grandsons as pallbearers, Charles, Fred and Siegel McKinnis, Gilbert and Jake Underwood and Delbert Russell. Siegel McKinnis, son of Robt. And Ellen McKinnis was born in Harrison County, Missouri June 22, 1861 and departed this life May 20, 1933. He was married to Effie Burris January 18, 1884, who precede him in death three years ago. Nine children were born to this union all of whom survive. They are Milton and Roy McKinnis, Mrs. Flora Kent, Mrs. Hazel Underwood, Mrs. Ruth Smith, Mrs. Sam Holt, Mrs. Grace Russell, Jim McKinnis, Walsh, Colo. And Harvey McKinnis, Springfield, Colo., 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren and one brother, Charles McKinnis, of Pattonsburg, Mo. Mr. McKinnis will be greatly missed by the Uniontown community. He was a good neighbor, a fine citizen and a good accommodating friend.
