Will use that date pending any clarification. A Maple Hill cemetery transcription noted that Florence was never married. Not sure what the source for that was - perhaps the researcher didn't realize that both her maiden and married surnames were "Spees" and assumed that she was unmarried. Spees, daughter of Dr. J.B. and Susan Spees was born March 9, 1862, in Birmingham, Iowa and passed away December 30, 1945 at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 21 days at the home of W.G. Spees. She was united in marriage to William Spees and to this union was born four children: Hallie, Thomas, Hugh and a daughter that passed away in infancy. She has lived in Birmingham all her life except one year in Missouri. The past 13 years she has made her home with her nephew, W.G. Spees. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by Hallie, Thomas and Hugh, one sister, Mrs. Iowa Manning of Birmingham and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Bruce Myers, were held at the Catcott Funeral Home, in Birmingham, Wednesday afternoon, January 2, 1946, at 1:30 o'clock with interment in Maple Hill cemetery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CARD OF THANKS To those who expressed their sympathy in so many beautiful and practical ways during our recent bereavement, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
