Description	:	MRS. DAVID A. MILLER Mary M. Miller, the eldest daughter of the late Dr. J. B. and Susannah Spees, was born Dec. 14, 1858 at Birmingham, Iowa, and departed this life March 2, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was born in a cottage on Main street at the present site of the post office. Her father served the community as a doctor in an early day when the town had but few houses and the road was a trail across the prairie leading directly to his door. She received her education at Wolf’s... Read More	MRS. DAVID A. MILLER Mary M. Miller, the eldest daughter of the late Dr. J. B. and Susannah Spees, was born Dec. 14, 1858 at Birmingham, Iowa, and departed this life March 2, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was born in a cottage on Main street at the present site of the post office. Her father served the community as a doctor in an early day when the town had but few houses and the road was a trail across the prairie leading directly to his door. She received her education at Wolf’s Academy. On Dec. 18, 1879, she was married to David A. Miller, who preceded her in death, Feb. 4, 1938. Surviving her are six children, Mrs. Jurenia Whittlesby, Albert C., Charlotte M., Rose S., Quay, and Mrs. Ethel Johnston, all of Birmingham. Her youngest child, Milton, died at the age of two months. Eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Iowa Manning and Mrs. Florence Spees also survive. Four brothers preceded her in death. She spent 40 years of her married life on a farm, one mile southeast of Birmingham. In 1919 she and her husband moved to Birmingham where they rounded out 58 years of wedded life. In early life she united with the Free Methodist church. She was of a quiet retiring disposition and in her late years, desired to spend her time with her family in her home, where she always welcomed her many friends. She will be sadly missed, especially by her daughter, Charlotte, who has tenderly cared for her in her declining years. ------------------ We desire to thank our friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy in our bereavement.
