Frances Belle Nemec, known as Fannie, daughter of Joseph and Frances Nemec, was born March 27, 1871, near, Ronace, Czechoslovakia. She passed away Wednesday evening at her home, April 3, 1946, at the age of 75 years and one week. She was baptized as an infant in her native land. At the age of three years, with her parents and two brothers, she immigrated from Bohemia to Richardson County, Nebraska, where her parents established a home in a new and strange land. She grew to young womanhood in the DuBois vicinity. She was married to Charles B. Turner, March 8, 1894, and they made their home on a farm near DuBois, where she lived the entire period of her married life. About four weeks prior to her passing they attained their 52nd year of marriage. To this union were born six children. One son died in infancy. She leaves her husband, three sons and two daughters: Joseph A. Turner of DuBois; Mrs. Edith Whitney of Elmwood, Nebr.; Theodore T. Turner of the DuBois vicinity; Charles B. Turner, Jr., and Mrs. Frances L. Perkins of the home. The grandchildren are: Sgt. William T. Whitney, Chanute Field, Ill.; Louis, Velma and Sharon Turner and Twila Perkins. There are seven brothers and sisters: Edward and Andrew Nemec, Beatrice; Mrs. Jennie VanLiew of DuBois; Mrs. Anna VanLiew , Colorado Springs; Joseph Nemec, Narka, Kan,; Mrs. Minnie Porak, Colorado Springs, and Mrs. Rose Vosika, Burks, S. Dak. She was preceded in death by her elder sister, Mrs. Mary Turner, of DuBois. For several years she had been in poor health and during the past few months medical assistance and all loving hands could do was to no avail, and her condition gradually became worse. Her sickness was characterized by patience, thoughtfulness of others, and gratefulness for any act performed in her behalf. She was an industrious, devoted wife and mother, and until her health broke she took an active interest in her home, garden and flowers. Her high ideals, honesty and friendly disposition won for her the true affection of all who knew her. She bore her suffering patiently and had great faith in her future life. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church in DuBois at 2:30 p.m. Sunday April 7, 1946. Rev. E. D. Sell having charge of the services. The quartet was composed of Clifford Boehmer, Mrs. Fred Hartung, Mrs. Burford Young, and Carl Rohlmeier, with Miss Mabel Ord as pianist. The ladies in charge of flowers were Mrs. Carl Rohlmeier, Mrs. Ruby Blecha and Mrs. Leo Rohlmeier. Pallbearers were Thomas Shinn and Gustave Hecht of DuBois, Lewis Webb of Sidney, Neb.; Frank Webb of Pawnee City; Otto Kotauc, Sr. and Frank Porak of Humboldt. The remains were laid to rest in the DuBois cemetery.
