Description	:	Frances Geraldine (Harvey) Skipper, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center in Oakland, MD. She had spent the last five years of her life being cared for in the home of her daughter Dawn. Born August 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Mack and Iva Josephine (Speicher) Harvey. Read More	Frances Geraldine (Harvey) Skipper, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center in Oakland, MD. She had spent the last five years of her life being cared for in the home of her daughter Dawn. Born August 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Mack and Iva Josephine (Speicher) Harvey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sibre B. Skipper, on July 19, 2002; two sisters, Vivian Hartman and Marybelle Forsythe; one brother, Joseph McKinley Harvey. Geraldine was a charter member of the Rocky Drean Assembly of God Church, Oakland. She worked locally as a bookkeeper for the Garrett County Board of Education and as a checkout girl at the Economy Market in Oakland. During World War II, she moved to Baltimore, MD, and worked for the Glen L. Martin Aircraft Company, building the Martin PBM-3 Mariner, the largest twin-engine flying boat at the time. Sib and Geraldine were married June 29, 1942 and spent 4 days together before he was deployed overseas during the war. It was 2 years and 4 months before they were reunited. After the death of her mother, Geraldine returned home to care for her younger brother and sister, Joseph and Vivian. From that time, she served her family as a homemaker. Her family rises up and calls her blessed. She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Colleen Canan and husband, Milton, Accident; one son, Roger Alan Skipper and wife, Connie, Oakland; eleven grandchildren, Regina Sandberg; Carolina Dodge; Marylyn Rudy; Clarissa Critchfield; Autumn Shunk; David, Scott, and Jarrod Canan; Krystle Brenneman; Jason and Daniel Skipper; eighteen great grandchildren, and the children of Joe Mack and Vivian and their families, who she and Sibre grand-parented. Sib and Geraldine left a legacy of faithfulness. They served their church, their family and most importantly, each other, with undying love, servitude and honor. XOXOXO Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November, 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend William C. Skipper officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Friend Cemetery.
