A sad accident occurred last Saturday at the Evans home 10 miles northwest of town, Frances (sic) Evans, 19, second son of Mr and Mrs Ben C Evans, who had been working for John Green east of Brentford since the close of his school near Java, where he taught the past year and had contracted for next year, went home to spend the 4th of July. As they had been cutting hay along the roadside. He took a team and rack to haul it in. While in the rack loading the hay the team started, throwing him against the rack. By the time he got hold of the lines the team was running and in making a short turn he was thrown out and the rack over onto him. He was dragged for a distance. He got up and started to walk to the house when he collapsd (sic) with a crushed chest and had to be carried in. Dr Ahlfs was called, but there was no help and he soon passed away. Funeral services where held in the church at Randolph Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev Walton of Conde, and interment took place in the Conde cemetery.
