Description	:	Francis Whitney, the daughter of John Ellis and Julia (Conn) Eyre, was born on March 22, 1903 at Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on January 12, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 102 years, 9 months and 20 days. Francis graduated from Superior High School in 1921. She was united in marriage to George L. Whitney on August 18, 1925 in Superior. This union was blessed with a son. Read More	Francis Whitney, the daughter of John Ellis and Julia (Conn) Eyre, was born on March 22, 1903 at Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on January 12, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 102 years, 9 months and 20 days. Francis graduated from Superior High School in 1921. She was united in marriage to George L. Whitney on August 18, 1925 in Superior. This union was blessed with a son. Francis was employed at Security National Bank now known as Farmers & Merchants Bank retiring in 1972 as assistant cashier. She was a lifetime member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the church organizations. Francis trained in art painting as a teenager and worked all her life in water colors, oil, specializing in scenery and midwest wildlife. She did decorative painting on plates, saucers, cups, and lamps of satsuma china. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband George on September 30, 1972, two brothers, John and Joseph and four sisters, Delma Barber, Florence Koontz, Rheva Robertson and Eunice Petersen. Survivors include her son, Larry and wife Arma Jean of Superior, Nebraska; three grandchildren; Barbara Thompson and husband Justin of Superior, Nebraska, Charles Whitney of Hastings, Nebraska and James and Dana Whitney of Omaha, Nebraska. Three great-grandchildren, Kelly Knigge of Flower Mound, Texas, Michael Thompson of York, Nebraska and Angela Thompson of Flower Mound, Texas and one great-great- grandson, Jack Knigge of Flower Mound, Texas along with one brother, Oswin Eyre of Ashland, Kentucky; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating. Music was ""Amazing Grace"" and ""In The Garden"" with Carol Shambaugh as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist. Pallbearers were Charles Whitney, James Whitney, Mike Thompson, Justin Thompson, Bob Keifer and Fred Alexander. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
