Description	:	Francis Michael Werts, the son of William Joseph and Ellen Loretta Lyons Werts, was born August 22, 1898 in LaSalle, Illinois and died Monday, July 20, 1992 at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward at the age of 93 years. At the age of five he moved with his parents to Hazen, Arkansas where he began his schooling. In 1908 the family moved to Nebraska and settled east of St. Edward where he continued his education at rural schools. In 1942 he entered the United States Army and served his country in the States until his discharge in March of 1943.... Read More	Francis Michael Werts, the son of William Joseph and Ellen Loretta Lyons Werts, was born August 22, 1898 in LaSalle, Illinois and died Monday, July 20, 1992 at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward at the age of 93 years. In 1908 the family moved to Nebraska and settled east of St. Edward where he continued his education at rural schools. In 1942 he entered the United States Army and served his country in the States until his discharge in March of 1943. He returned to St. Edward where he worked as a blacksmith. In addition to being a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church, he was also a member of Crosier Post 226, American Legion. Survivors include one sister-in-law, Mildred Werts, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Charles and Martin; and three sisters, Marguerite, Helen and Florence. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 1992 from the St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Edward Gill officiating. Music was by Sister Agatha Marie. Lector was Karen Penne. Isabel Mausbach was EME and Cantor was Maurus Baustert. Servers were Emerson Kaspar, Ray Klassen and Matt Reardon. Casket bearers were Jim Coan, Mike Dyer, Leo Mahoney, Tim Mahoney, Dennis Werts, Bill Werts, Dan Zimmerman and Kent Zimmerman. Military graveside services were conducted by Crosier Post 226, American Legion. Burial was in St. Edward Cemetery.
