Ullrey, who had lived east of Morris chapel on Route 3 since '09, died Wednesday afternoon at the age of 66. He was born in Berrien county, Feb. 14, 1874, one of eight children of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ullrey. He was active in farming until about three years ago. Mr. Ullrey was married to Orlie Mae Parker, who survives him, Nov. 8, 1899. Three sons survive—Ebon, Niles; Lyle, Detroit, and Arthur, Highland Park, Mich. Other surviviors[sic] include four brothers—Fred, South Bend; Clarence, Gobles,Mich.; Carl, Dowagiac, and Earl, Mishawaka; three sisters—Mrs. Cora Montgomery, St. Joseph, Mich.; Mrs. Ada Miars, Berrien Springs, and Mrs. Grace Cady,Ludington, Mich.; five grandchildren—Duane, Ann and Janyce Ullrey, all of Niles;and Marvin and Mariene Ullrey, Detroit. Friends may call at the Price and Kiger funeral home until Saturday. Funeral services will be held on the lawn of the Ullrey farm home Saturday afternoon at 2 with the Rev. J. Kenneth Hoffmaster of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Union cemetery, where Mr. Ullrey's parents and grandparents are buried. Berrien Journal Era, Thurs., July 18, 1940, page 1 LARGELY ATTENDED RITES HELD FOR FRANK ULLREY Funeral services for the late Frank E. Ullrey were held Saturday afternoon at the home in the Morris Chapel neighborhood with relatives and friends crowding residence and surrounding grounds. The Rev. J. Kenneth Hofmaster of the Niles Methodist church officiated with the Rev. W.S. Wright, retired Niles minister, assisting. Mrs. Hoffmaster, wife of the pastor, sang several selections, favorites of the deceased. Those on the outside were aided in hearing the serviced by a loud speaker. The many beautiful flowers surrounding the casket bespoke the high esteem in which the deceased was held by those who knew him. Nephews of Mr. Ullrey carried his remains to their last resting place in Union Cemetery south of Berrien Center. Mr. Ullrey, a gifted bass signer, was a member of the John H. Ullrey family choir which furnished the music at Union church for years nearly half a century ago. He made his last public appearance as a signer at the Union Memorial rites held at the church on June 16,singing "Help Them Mount." A number of local people were in the audience and heard him at that time. Additional Comments: Orlie M. Ullery, born oct. 27 1873 and died July 1, 1971, age 92y. is also buried at South Union.
