Description	:	GERARD, FRANK JOHN—Frank John Gerard, son of Albert Gerard and Theresa Sieber Gerard, was born on a farm north of Ohiowa October 27, 1892. He passed away July 4, 1956, in the United States Naval hospital on the island of Guam, at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 8 days. He continued this line of... Read More	GERARD, FRANK JOHN—Frank John Gerard, son of Albert Gerard and Theresa Sieber Gerard, was born on a farm north of Ohiowa October 27, 1892. He passed away July 4, 1956, in the United States Naval hospital on the island of Guam, at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 8 days. After attending local schools, he worked on the home farm with his father until 1916, when he moved to a farm near Carleton where he lived until he commenced his long career as a mechanic in a garage in Carleton. He continued this line of work, 1924 to 1928, at Fairbury and there-after until 1947 at Fremont. He then operated filling stations at Ashland and Friend until going to Guam. The deceased worked on United States military installations from November, 1950, until he was injured while at work a few months ago. He entered a hospital for treatment, but his health gradually declined. Frank was a skilled mechanic. He was foreman of his special group when he entered the hospital in May. He was a conscientious and hardworking man, loyal to his employers, devoted to his relatives and well like by all. He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Mary Gerard Stofer. Surviving are his brother Ed and family of Geneva; a sister, Rose Gerard Kroeker of Kansas City; Helen Stofer Harder, Mildred Stofer Bice, Mae Stofer Koinzan, Florence Stofer Mathiens and Albert Stofer Jr., children of his deceased sister; many cousins of the Sieber family and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, July 13, at 2 p. m. at the Kritner-Ashby funeral home in Geneva, with Rev. C. L. Flickinger, pastor of the Shickley Methodist church, in charge. Music was by the Salem Men’s quartet. Pallbearers were Earl Miller, Fred Saatman, Henry Meyer, Gust Schelbitzki, Frank Schelbitzki and W. H. Sieckman. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
