Mr. Cangas was born Sept. 17, 1928 in Fort Madison and was a lifelong local resident. He was employed for 10 years with the Santa Fe Railway and for 28 years with the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Middletown. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. On Aug. 3, 1946, in Fort Madison he married Mary A. Puga, who survives. Also surviving are a son Raymond of Fort Madison; five daughters, Frances Pagdham, Louisville, CO., Gloria Johnson and Rita Marshall both of Burlington, Rosalie Hendrix, Fort Madison, and Melissa Payne, Denmark; a brother Manuel of Fort Madison; a sister, Julia Puga of Waterloo; foster son Joseph Cangas, Des Moines; a foster daughter JoAnn Limas of New York; nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a foster son and three brothers. His parents were Leonardo and Emilia Ortiz Cangas. A memorial is being established with Sacred Heart Church. Contributions may be made a King-Lynk Funeral Home.
