This will follow a private memorial service at Danforth Chapel. Inurnment took place in Pioneer Cemetery. Mr. Pinet died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at his home. He was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Topeka, the son of Frank Leo and Hattie Blanche McClure Pinet. He received a bachelor's degree in 1942, a master's of business administration degree in 1947, and a doctorate degree in economics in 1955, all from KU. He served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Korean War. He participated in the Normandy invasion during World War II. He was a professor emeritus and distinguished professor in business at KU. He was director of executive development programs in the business school and associate dean of the school. He organized the first executive education/development program in Kansas in 1955. He was the chairman of the Telecommunications Industry Distinguished Teaching Professorship, which was established in his honor, until his retirement. He received the USITA Pacesetter Award in 1982, the only nonindustry recipient to date. He received numerous awards for teaching, including the Standard Oil Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1973, the Henry A. Bubb Award for Outstanding Teaching in the School of Business, and the Mortar Board Outstanding Educator Award in 1980. He was listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the Midwest. He served on the boards of the Adams Alumni Center and the Spencer Museum of Art. He married Ruth Estelle Eddy in 1942. He later married Winifred Meyer on Jan. 27, 1956, in Kansas City, Kan. She died Jan. 24, 1995. Survivors include a son, Christopher P. Pinet, Bozeman, Mont.; four daughters, Nancy P. Tilford, Portland, Ore., Rosemary P. Hartner, Vista, Calif., Winifred S. Pinet, Grosse Pointe, Mich., and Michele Pinet, Arlington, Mass.; and four grandchildren. Saturday, December 5, 1998 ljworld ****************************************************
