Read More	Glasco Sun, Feb. 24, 1944, page 2: Franklin Reese Jones, son of Umphrey and Elizabeth Perry Jones, was born October 17, 1896, in Clarke county, Iowa, and died at the St. Margaret hospital, Kansas City, Kan., February 16, 1944, at the age of 47 years, and 4 months, following an illness of nine weeks, in which he was a very patient sufferer. His mother passed away when he was quite young, so his childhood was spent with his father, brothers and sisters on a farm in Iowa. ….. attended school in Iowa until ….. became fifteen years old when he went to Denver, Colo. with his brother, David. ( a hole in the newspaper caused a few missing words.) There he worked for a motor company until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps of World war I, on August 20, 1917. He became a corporal of the 6th Aero Squadron and spent 22 months overseas in the service of his country. He was honorably discharged May 20, 1919. Upon returning to this country he began working for the J. I. Case Machine Co., Kansas City. He was married to Goldena Ella Robertson, March 8, 1922, of Simpson, Kansas, and took her to Kansas City where they made their home until 1925, when they moved to Simpson. Here he was engaged in the machine and garage business until 1939 when they moved to their present lovely farm home. To this union two children were born: Marceline, who preceded him in death in 1930, and Lt. Geo. Robert, of the Army Air Corps, who with the wife was at the bedside of his father during his illness and death. Frank was a faithful, active and much loved member of the A.F.& A.M., Sincerity Lodge, Simpson, Kan., American Legion Post, Glasco, Kans., and the I.O.O.F., Asherville, Kans. He is survived by his wife, Goldena, son, Lt. George Robert; four brothers, Willis Jones, Grand River, Iowa; David Jones,Van Wurt, Iowa; John Jones, Kansas City, Kans.; and Thomas Jones, Lawrence, Kans., and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Tiedje, Van Wurt, Iowa. Also many nephews and nieces among whom is Major Dale Jones, Army Air Force, who spent several years in the home and was treated and loved like a son by his uncle and aunt. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, Feb. 18, 1944, at the Baptist church, Simpson, Kans., by R.H. Spangler, Concordia, Kans., and interment was made in the Glasco cemetery by the grave of his little daughter. Graveside services were conducted by the Masonic lodge. Music was furnished by the McClintock quartet, and a solo, "Does Jesus Care," by Rev. P.S. Franz. Pallbearers were Messrs. Rex Borgen, Philip Louthan, F.O. Wells, Jess Asmussen, Ben Whitebread, and Enos Guipre.
