Description	:	Fred Dittman, farmer resident of this community for 42 years, succumbed to a heart attack at his home northwest of Emerson about 11:00 o'clock Monday night, following a severe coughing and choking spell, Death came suddenly and members of his family were unable to summon medical aid to ease the attack. Fred Dittman was born April 9th, 1869 in Rostowald, Passau, Holstein, Germany, and died December 9, 1935, at the age of 67 years and eight months. Read More	Fred Dittman, farmer resident of this community for 42 years, succumbed to a heart attack at his home northwest of Emerson about 11:00 o'clock Monday night, following a severe coughing and choking spell, Death came suddenly and members of his family were unable to summon medical aid to ease the attack. Fred Dittman was born April 9th, 1869 in Rostowald, Passau, Holstein, Germany, and died December 9, 1935, at the age of 67 years and eight months. He was baptized in infancy and was confirmed during his youth in the Lutheran church. He came to the United States at the age of 23 resided in Davenport, Ia., one year before coming to Emerson in 1893. In July, 1905, he was united in marriage to Martha Hoeck, Five children were born to this union. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and the Sons of Herman lodge, being secretary of the lodge at the time of his death. Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons, Chris of Council Bluffs, Ia., Emil of Maquoketa, Ia., and Raymond of Emerson; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Utemark Jr. and Gladys of Emerson. A brother in Germany and three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held this (Thurs.) afternoon at 1:15 at the home and at 2:00 o'clock in St. Paul's Lutheran church, Rev. Hugo Welchert officiating. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery , directed by the R. F. Demme Funeral Home.
