Mr. Scheer passed away Friday, Jan. 23 at the home of his son, Charles at the age of 76. He had lived on farms in the Creighton community practically all of his life, having been born in this community. Read More	Fred Scheer, 76, Dies Friday, Funeral Monday Funeral services for Fred Scheer were conducted Monday, January 26 at the Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Adolph Lillich officiating. Mr. Scheer passed away Friday, Jan. 23 at the home of his son, Charles at the age of 76. He had lived on farms in the Creighton community practically all of his life, having been born in this community. Pallbearers were Frank Weaver, Louis Zobel, Herman Schuett, Fred Falter, Henry Sebade and Gerald Sebade. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Fred Herman Scheer, son of Gottlieb Scheer and his wife Emilia, nee Gruchow, was born at Creighton on March 27, 1876. He was baptized in early infancy in the Lutheran Church and confirmed in the same church in his youth. He was united in marriage to Miss Mathilda Iauch on Sept. 20, 1900. To this union six children were born, two of whom preceded him in death. A son, Arthur, died in infancy and a daughter, Edna, died April 7, 1920. His wife passed away June 30, 1942 and three sisters also preceded him in death. He spent most of his life in the Creighton community on the farm. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Lena Welch on Dec. 5, 1943 and lived in Bazile Mills until the time of his death. He experienced considerable illness in his life, but enjoyed fairly good health in his later years. He was hospitalized last November and was then taken to the home of his son, Charles, where he passed away. Surviving are his widow, Lena Scheer; four children, Charles of Creighton, Mrs. Fritz (Edith) Paul of Lake Andes, S.D., Leo of Winner, S.D. and Elvin of Albuquerque, N.M., now with the U.S. Army in Korea; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, William F. of Bazile, Mills, John of Creighton and Richard of Greeley, Colo.; four sisters, Mrs. Arend (Hattie) Husman and Mrs. Charles (Clara) Iauch of Creighton, Mrs. Antonia Melcher of Scottsbluff and Mrs. Louisa Rose of Rapid City, S.D.
