Husmann was born on June 4, 1880 in Knox county, the daughter of Gottlieb Scheer and his wife, Amelia, nee Gruchow. She was baptized in the Lutheran church at Bazile Mills and later renewed and confirmed her baptismal vow at her confirmation in the same church in her early youth. She spent her childhood and youth on the family homestead northwest of Creighton, her parents being pioneers in Knox County. She was united in marriage to Arend H. Husmann on Feb. 26, 1903 at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive her. A son, Edward, died at the age of four, when the family lived at Rock Rapids, Ia. The family lived first in Winnetoon and Creighton, then on a homestead at Wall, S.D. and later at Rock Rapids, Ia. They lived in Creighton since 1931. Mrs. Husmann was 74 years of age at the time of her death. Mr. and Mrs. Husmann celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1953. Besides her son, her parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband; six children, Mrs. Volney (Ilda) Nyquist of St. Cloud, Minn., Arend Jr. of Monrovia, Calif., Mrs. Geo. (Lucile) Fox of Bellevue, Mrs. Geo. (Alma) Foster of Hopkins, Minn., Kenneth H. of Brookings, S.D. and Mrs. Dale (Esther) Lyddon of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Iauch of Creighton, Mrs. Antonie Melcher of Scottsbluff and Mrs. Louise Rose of Rapid City, S.D.; two brothers, John Scheer of Creighton and Richard Scheer of Greeley, Colo.
