Description	:	FRED L. BERG Fred Lester Berg, 87, son of the late Helga (Brox) and Gilbert Berg of the Litchville community died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the V.A. Black Hills Health Care Center at Fort Meade, South Dakota. Fred was born to the Gilbert Bergs in Trinity Hospital in Jamestown on July 27, 1919. He was the youngest child in the family. Following his graduation, he served... Read More	FRED L. BERG Fred Lester Berg, 87, son of the late Helga (Brox) and Gilbert Berg of the Litchville community died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the V.A. Black Hills Health Care Center at Fort Meade, South Dakota. Fred was born to the Gilbert Bergs in Trinity Hospital in Jamestown on July 27, 1919. He was the youngest child in the family. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in the Montpelier Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in the Marion Lutheran Church in 1933. He graduated from Marion High School in 1937. Following his graduation, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC's). He entered the U. S. Air Force during World War II and served in an isolated outpost in Alaska. Following his discharge from the service, he spent the rest of his life in Veteran's homes, hospitals and nursing homes. He is survived by one sister, Helen (Albert) Manns of Ypsilanti, ND and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Leonard (Julia), Litchville; Clifford (Marion), Brainerd, MN; Albert H. "Ick" (Lorraine), Litchville and Elmer ("Bud") (Ruby), Motley, MN; three sisters: Bertha (Leonard) Boyer, Hatton, ND; Alice (Ted) Wheeler, Buxton, ND and Anne (Ralph) Hunt, Yakima, WA. The memorial services are pending. Memorial Service for Fred Berg July 7, 2007 A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 7, for Fred Berg at the Marion Hall. The service will begin at 2 p.m. Following the service, coffee and sweets will be served. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery later that day. Fred was born July 27, 1919, the youngest son of the late Gilbert and Helga (Brox) Berg. He was a graduate of Marion High School and served in the military during WW II. He died November 5, 2006 at the Ft. Meade, SD Veteran's Hospital. Surviving is one sister, Helen Manns of rural Ypsilanti and many nieces and nephews. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, Litchville, ND, November 2006 and July 2007.
