Poss, 95, of Scotia were held May 25, at the United Methodist Church in Scotia. Mr. Poss died May 22, 2000 at his home in Scotia. He was born Aug. 25, 1904 near Cotesfield, the son of Louis and Emma (Holm) Poss. He attended Howard county rural schools and grew up on the family farm. On Dec. 5, 1934, he was united in marriage to Grace Gydesen at St. Paul. The couple farmed near Cotesfield until moving into Scotia in October 1962. Mrs. Poss died on Dec. 31, 1982. He was united in marriage to Hazel Koch in 1985. The couple moved to St. Paul and returned to Scotia in 1987. Mrs. Poss died in October 1996. Mr. Poss continued to live in Scotia until his death. He enjoyed farming, gardening, polka music, dancing and fishing. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scotia and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Grand Island. His survivors include one daughter, Erma (Mrs. Bill) Neel of North Loup; three sons, Melvin Poss and Donald Poss, both of Scotia and Kenneth Poss of Greeley; one step-daughter, Maxine Sundberg of Clarks; one daughter-in-law, Jean Poss of Elba; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Poss of Scotia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Grace and Hazel; two sons, Darwin and Richard; two grandsons; three brothers, Walter, Jess and Bill; and three sisters, Esther Matousek, Katie Matousek and Carrie Tuma.
