He died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in Lincoln. He was born Aug. 7, 1917, on the family farm in southeast Cuming County to Fred H. and Johanna Rastede Naber. Naber, 90, of rural Scribner was held Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, County Line. He died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in Lincoln. He was born Aug. 7, 1917, on the family farm in southeast Cuming County to Fred H. and Johanna Rastede Naber. He was raised on a farm in southeast Cuming County. He attended grade school at Cuming County District 46 and graduated from Uehling High School. After attending Midland College in Fremont for one year, he took a job with Farmer's Union in Omaha. After working in Omaha for several years, he returned to farming. In 1939, he married Audrey H. Schroeder. He served as Cuming County assessor for 16 years from 1968-84. While in office, he served as president of the Assessors Association of Nebraska, was president and secretary of the Northeast Nebraska Assessors Association and for five years was a member of the state ad valorem advisory committee. He was a longtime member of Toastmasters Club. He was a lifetime active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, County Line, and served in many positions including as church council president. He also taught Sunday school and was active with the men's group. Survivors include: four children, Sandra Langemeier (and husband, David) of Lincoln, Donnelly of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kevin (and wife, Jackie) of Beatrice and Keith (and wife, Loretta) of Lincoln; a sister, Elaine (and husband, Vernon) Riensche; four sisters-in-law, Bernice Naber, Arla Naber, Minerva Naber and Drusilla Forsberg; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by three brothers. The Rev. Norman Nelson officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Stokely Funeral Home in West Point was in charge of arrangements.
