Description	:	Frederick Christopher Feuring was born February 28th 1849, in the state of New York, where he grew to manhood and enlisted in Company K, 153rd Regiment of Illinois Infantry from which he was honorably discharged September 25th 1865. On February 1st, 1871, he was united in marriage to Martha F. Averill, of Colehester, Illinois. To this union were born seven children, three of whom preceded the father to eternity, Minnie G. Read More	Frederick Christopher Feuring was born February 28th 1849, in the state of New York, where he grew to manhood and enlisted in Company K, 153rd Regiment of Illinois Infantry from which he was honorably discharged September 25th 1865. On February 1st, 1871, he was united in marriage to Martha F. Averill, of Colehester, Illinois. To this union were born seven children, three of whom preceded the father to eternity, Minnie G. McCormack, of Kalispell, Montana, Ethel May Crist, of Fontanelle, Charles Ray Feuring, who is attending St. Joseph Veterinary College, and Edna Maud Feuring, of this place, with the wife, one sister and seven grandchildren, mourn the loss of a husband and father. Mr. Feuring was a man of positive conviction, and was a devoted patriot. He was a member of the Lents Post of the Grand Army of the Republic, and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for over forty years. He was baptized in childhood in the Lutheran church and in his later years made an open confession of Jesus as his Savior, and told the members of his family that he had made his peace with God and was ready to go. He was a great sufferer, but his last few hours were peaceful and free from suffering. In his last illness he was taken to Unity Hospital, at Creston, where he departed this life November 2nd, 1917, aged 68 years, 8 months and 5 days. Frederick Christopher Feuring is no more, "for God took him." The funeral was held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. Owen Smith, of Des Moines, assisted by Rev. O.R. Jones, of this place, and by the members of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Interment was made in the Fontanelle cemetery. Note: Fred's name on his Civil War Pension application is listed as "John F.C. Feuring" and Fred C. Feuring is listed as an alias. I've not found any further source for his given name as "John" though.
