Read More	Death Claims Frederick C. Nanninga The new year was hardly ushered in when the death angel appeared in Ireton and took one of its highly respected citizens from this world. At 2:30 New Year's morning Frederick C. Nanninga was called at the ripe age of 83 years, months and 9 days, forty years of which were spendt in Ireton and vicinity. He was highly respected by all who knew him. His honesty, integrity and Christian ideals made him many friends. Father of a large family, he was a home loving man, devoted to his wife and children, yet always having time to think and consider others. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from St. Pau's Lutheran church at 2:00, Rev. Torgler of Hinton being in charge. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery. The church was crowed to its doors by those paying a last tribute to the departed and the beautiful floral offerings from relatives, neighbors and friends showed the esteem in which he was held. Frederick Conrad Nanninga was born may 22, 1850, at Pewsum, Ostfriesland, Germany, where he grew to manhood. He came to America in the year 1870, settling at Hartsburg, Ill. There he was united in marriage with Grace Lubbers of Harteburg. To this union was born one child, Mrs. Grace Pereboom of Chister, S. D. Mrs. Nanninga died July 19, 1878. A year later he married Hannah Diethardt and she has traveled dow through life with him almost 55 years and is left to mourn a husband who always was considerate and devoted. The marriage took place at Pekin, Ill., March 4, 1879. Later a farm was purchased in Washington township, Sioux county, five miles south of Ireton, onto which they moved in 1894. To this union 12 children were born. Two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Willey of Beresford and Mrs. Hannah Dittmer, preceded their father to their eternal home. He leaves to mourn his loss his sorrowing widow, Mrs. hannah Diethardt Nanninga; five sons, Martin of Beresford, John of Sioux City, Fred Jr. of Holstein, and Conrad and Warren of Ireton; six daughters, Mrs. Grace Pereboom of Chester, S. D., Mrs. Tena Cornish of Hawarden, Mrs. Cena Vander Hamm, Mrs. Etta Griffith, Mrs. Hattie Vlotho and Mrs. Jennie McNally of Ireton. He also leaves a half-brother, Harm Nanninga of Pekin, Ill., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Peter Fissel of Le Mars, a brother-in-law, John Diethardt of Freeport, Ill., thirty-seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many other relatives, neighbors and friends. After many years of toiling on their farm, Mr. and Mrs. Nanninga built a beautiful modern home in Ireton in the spring of 1915 and moved to Ireton to enjoy the fruits of their labor. They celebrated their golden wedding March 4, 1929, in the midst of their many children, grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Up to this time both Mr. and Mrs. Nanninga had enjoyed the best of health but shortly after Mr. Nanninga began to fail in health, never recovering his full health. He was a true Christian throughout his whole life and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Ireton, having been baptized and confirmed in the same faith in Germany.
