Wregglesworth. ------------------------------- In 1918, they were living in Aurora, Kane county Illinois (per his father's obituary). 1920 census: They are iving in Naperville, DuPage County Illinois, with his sister Alice and her husband Alois Letcher. 1930 census: Living in Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan. 1940 census: Living in Dayton (on S.-W. side of Buchanan), Bertrand township, Berrien County Michigan. --------------------------------- Fred served as an Officer of the Miller Road Elementary School (a one-room school house North of Buchanan, MI), in 1925-1926. --------------------------------- In 1963, Fred was living in Sturgis, Michigan (and working as a tree trimmer) (per his sister Jennie's obituary). ---- In 1975, Fred was living in Buchanan, Michigan (per his sister Stella's obituary). --------------------------------- The following newspaper article [with photo] were published in the "Berrien County Record" newspaper in Buchanan, MI on May 12, 1977. It states that Fred and Elizabeth celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house in their home. --- An open house will be held Sunday, May 15, 2-5 p.m. at 210 West Fourth Street, to honor Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Ketchum on their 60th wedding anniversary. Freddie Ketchum and Elizabeth Keifer, were married May 10, 1917, in Aurora, Illinois. They came to the Buchanan area in 1920. The couple has five children: Howard Ketchum of Niles: Mrs. Fred (Geraldine) Frantz of Wilmington, Delaware: Freddie Jr. of Satelite Beach, Florida: Mrs. Norman (Joyce) Ferris of Niles, and Mrs. John D. (Sue) Wregglesworth of Buchanan. They also have 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts. ----------------------------- They later celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. An article (with the same photo as on their 60th) published in the local newspaper states the following: --- Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ketchum will be quietly celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary May 10 at their home at 210 W. Fourth Street, Buchanan. Fred Ketchum and Elizabeth Keifer were married May 10, 1917 in Aurora, Illinois. They have five children: Howard Ketchum of Niles: Mrs. Fred (Geraldine) Frantz of Wilmington, Delaware: Freddie Jr. of Satellite Beach, Florida: Mrs. Norman (Joyce) Ferris of Niles, and Mrs. John D. (Sue) Wregglesworth of Buchanan. They also have 22 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. ---------------------------------- The following obituary for Fred was published in the "Niles Daily Star" newspaper in Niles, MI on May 20, 1985, page 2: ----- FRED KETCHUM.- Fred Ketchum, 87, 210 S. [West] Fourth St. Buchanan, [MI] died at 4:54 p.m. Sunday at his home following a lengthy illness. He was a tree trimmer for the city of Sturgis for a number of years. Born May 3, 1898 in Naperville, ILL., he lived here since 1922, coming from Naperville, [ILL]. On May 10, 1917 in Naperville, he married Elizabeth Keifer, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Howard [Howard William] Ketchum, of Niles and Fred [Fred Aloysius] Ketchum Jr. of Satellite Beach, Fla.: three daughters, Joyce [Joyce Beverly] Ferris of Niles, [MI], Gerry [Geraldine E.] Franz of Wilmington, Del., and Sue [Sue Ann] Wregglesworth of Statesville, N.C.: 22 grandchildren: and 21 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan with Rev. Jim Plunkett of the Buchanan Church of Christ officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Arrangments were completed by the Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. ----------------------------------- Note: A anniversary newspaper article states that Fred and Elizabeth came to Buchanan, MI in 1920.
