Born at Mecklenberg, Germany, in Nov. 1853, he came to America with his parents when six years old and settled near Elkader. He lived at Edgewood, Wood Center and Dundee, and following his marriage, 56 years ago, spent some time in Minnesota. For the past three years he lived with his daughter, Mrs. William Elsbay (sic), in Coffins Grove, west of Manchester. Surviving are one brother in Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Albert Brock, Battle Creek, Mich.; and the following children: Mrs. William Elsbury, Coffins Grove; Mrs. Mark Hazelrigg, Winthrop; John Briggman, west of Manchester; Will, Manchester; Mrs. John Newton, Edgewood; Mrs. Peter Franks, Mrs. Evangeline Fry and Miss Pearl Briggman, all of Manchester. One daughter, Mrs. John Elsbury, died at her home north of Manchester, last years. Two sons died in infancy. Waterloo Courier 02 Apr 1934 Briggman Rites Will Be Tuesday at Manchester Very similar obituary, but states that he died from pneumonia.
