Messer, who has resided in the Fairfield community for the past 17 years, died suddenly at his home, 604 North B, on Thursday morning. He was born Feb. 6, 1881, at Mt. Pleasant, the son of John and Cornelia Holliwell Nesser. He married Hilma Sodergren on Dec, 12, 1906. She died on Aug. 12, 1967. A retired farmer, Messer live in the Lockridge community prior to moving to Fairfield. He is survived by the following children; Mrs. O. L. Tallman of Fairfield, Clifford Messer of Burlington, Paul Messer of Mediapolis, Mrs. Blanche Nelson of Fairfield, Mrs. Leonard Ridinger of New London, and Howard of Beloit, Wisc. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs, Fred Myers of Mt. Pleasant.
