Seventh St., was pronounced dead on arrival at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua Tuesday night, Sept. 5, 1989. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Adams was west-bound on County Road J-40 shortly after 8 p.m., when he apparently became ill and drove his car into a ditch 1-2 mile west of Sharon Church. He was transported to the hospital by the Farmington Rescue Unit before officers arrived. An autopsy will be performed in Des Moines to determine the cause of death. The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Nastos officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Adams was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Nashua, N.H., the son of Harry and Dena Alex Adams. He married Maxine Wright Dec. 21, 1984, in the Methodist church at Fairfield. He had been a truck driver for 30 years and for the last 19 years had been in truck transporting. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He attended the Greek Orthodox Church. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Doug and Chris, both of Fairfield, Steven of What Cheer; two daughters, Marie Roe of Fairfield, Cynthia Thorpe of Boston, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Sherry Copeland and Jane Martin, both of Farifield; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and a sister, Angeline Gill of Fairfield.
