She was named after her maternal grandfather, George Dabbs Hamlett. In Memoriam. Our loved Georgie Anne, daughter of J. F. and L. A. Robertson, fell asleep in Jesus, Nov. 9, 1895, at 4 o'clock A.M. Typhoid fever was the cause of her death. She was sick just three weeks, and a sweeter, more patient disposition than hers was never seen. She always obeyed without a murmur every direction of nurse and physician. We always loved her dearly, but it was in the sickroom that we learned to love her with the whole strength of our nature. We did not realize how dear she was to us until this last sickness and final separation. We had so longingly and lovingly looked forward to her home-coming, when she could remain in our family circle, and not have to leave us for school again; and when at last she came, we would feel so glad when in her cheerful presence to say in our heart: "Snooks has come to stay!" She was just twenty-one years and one day old, when God called her away. She had been in school since she was thirteen, graduated last June, and with her mother went to Europe to spend the summer; consequently she had been away from home from her childhood, except holidays and vacations, which she always spent at home, which she loved, as is evidenced by her fondness for spending her vacations and holidays there. Returning home from her trip, she said: "I'm going home now to enjoy myself." She was loved by every one who knew her well, especially by the members of our household. We cannot yet realize that she has gone away from us to stay always. We look for her light face and listen for her cheerful voice, while through our mind continually run these words: "Snooks, dear Snooks, is she dead?" And, as the hours go by and grow into passing days, we seem to sometimes hear the sweet answer come from the realms of bliss: "No, not dead, but in my Father's house, in the fullness of life and joy." Her short stay with us is like a dream that too soon has its ending; and when the full realization of our loved one having gone out from us to return no more comes upon us, our hearts are bowed down in the very depths of sorrow; but after a while, when this poignant grief has been softened by time, we can then hold her in sweet memory, and thank the great God for strengthening the cord that draws us to the heavenly home. We already feel great consolation in the determination to serve the Master better and love him more, that we may be prepared to meet our loved ones in the beautiful paradise of God when we, too, are summoned to cross over. Our darling Snooks (for so I always called her in life) was beautiful in death. No sculptor could chisel so lovely and perfect a form. Her features were perfect, and her smiles as beautiful as a dream. She looked as if in the act of speaking some sweet message of love, and as my lips touched for the last time her pure and lovely brow, and my eyes for the last time looked lingeringly on that vision of beauty, that impress was made on my soul that will never fade away. By faith we are now looking heavenward, where we see a beautiful vision: two bright angels redeemed by the blood of the Master-the one our own sweet babe welcoming "Aunt Georgie" within the pearly gates. May God bless and strengthen all her sorrowing loved ones. "Uncle Jimmie." The following resolutions of respect on the death of Miss Georgie Robertson were adopted by the faculty and students of Hamilton College: Whereas it has pleased our Father in heaven to remove from this earth to her everlasting home our beloved pupil and friend, Miss Georgie Robertson; therefore resolved, 1. That we express our high appreciation of her intellectual and moral worth, her steadfast and faithful adherence to truth and duty, her unselfish generosity and helpfulness in every good work, and her cheerful submission at all times to the divine will; and we commend her example to all who through faith seek the fadeless crown. 2. That as a faculty we bear willing testimony o! her fidelity as a student, her uniformly good conduct. and our high regard for her ability. 3. That as fellow-students we bear testimony to her courteous and sympathetic disposition, her power to rise above all selfish aims, her determination to bear her part in every laudable undertaking, her willingness to aid in the literary society and the society of Christian Endeavor, and her desire to prove herself worthy of all approval, human and divine. 4. That we extend to her parents and other kindred, and to the class of 1895, our sympathy; and that we commend them to God, who will cause all things to work together for good to those who love him; and that while we sorrow at the departure from us of one so well equipped for life, so richly endowed to work for the good of her race, so fondly devoted to her parents, so full of lofty purpose and consecrated aim, we nevertheless acquiesce in the will of God, who is able to keep her immortal spirit safe in his own loving, omnipotent arms against that great day when we shall no longer look through a glass darkly, but we shall see face to face, and know as we are known. ---Prof. J.
