George Clarence MOORE, son of Jesse MOORE and Emma Elizabeth (Santman) MOORE, was born on a farm near Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on August 5, 1869, and died at his home in Oakdale, Nebraska, April 2, 1943, at the age of seventy-three years, seven months and twenty-eight days. When Mr. MOORE was seventeen he walked from his home fifty miles to Manston, Wisconsin, there being employed in a flour mill, following the miller's trade for the remainder of his life. On October 13, 1897, he was united in marriage to Laura G. AVERY at Moville, Iowa. In September of 1900, Mr. and Mrs. MOORE moved to Ruthton, Minnesota, where Mr. MOORE operated a flourmill. While there, their daughter, Gertrude MOORE, was born. About this time Mr. MOORE joined the Masonic Lodge, to which he remained faithful and helpful member for approximately 43 years. During many of those years he served as an instructor, organizing and building up lodges in Nebraska and Minnesota. Mr. MOORE always remained true to the highest standards of the Masonic Order. In April of 1905, the MOORE family left Minnesota, returning to Iowa where they lived in Arion until 1908 when they removed to Ravenna, Nebraska. In 1915 the family came to Oakdale where Mr. MOORE was employed as head miller of the Galloway Mills, remaining in this position until the mill closed in 1926. They then moved to Neligh where he was head miller in the Neligh Mill until November, 1938, when he retired on account of poor health. They then removed to their home in Oakdale. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife; one child, Gertrude OFE; his son-in-law, Frank OFE; one grandchild, Roger OFE; two sisters; two brothers; three nieces; two nephews and a host of friends.
