George filed for land in Nemaha County, Kansas near the Nebraska border shortly after it was opened up to homesteaders. Married to Mary Claymire and their children were: Henrietta "Jettie", married Conrad Borges; Christopher died as a baby when George had went to St. Joseph, MO for supplies; Henry born in 1858 and married Mary Mann; Amelia, married Fred Robbing; Laura, married Adolph Bock; and Dick married Hulda Fasholtz.
