Description	:	GEORGE GUDMESTAD George Gudmestad, 82, lifelong Litchville community resident, died in a Fargo hospital Thursday, August 7, 1986. Funeral services were conducted August 11 at the First Lutheran Church in Litchville with Rev. Douglas Mathison officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Marlys Anderson was at the organ and Arne (Mrs. Neil) Gudmestad was the soloist. She sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Lord's Prayer." The congregation sang "Beautiful Savior" as the opening hymn. Six grandsons were the pallbearers: Mike, Brian, Gary and David Opdahl, Thomas Gudmestad and Jason Gudmestad. He was born April 7, 1904 in Rosebud Township, the son of Thomas and Guri Gudmestad. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and received his education in a rural school. He married Carla Anderson in Litchville on August 18, 1931. They farmed in Rosebud Township until retiring. They moved to Litchville in 1964. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and had served as trustee and deacon. He served on the township and school boards and was a member of the Farmers Union. He had served as janitor in the Litchville School system in the late 50's and early 60's. He is survived by his wife; four sons: Lyle of Lisbon; Donald, Minot; Dean, Medina and Neil of Fargo; a daughter, Lois (Mrs. Gerald) Opdahl of Litchville; two sisters, Isabelle Satterlee, Litchville and Carrie Severson of Seattle, WA; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, two sisters and a grandson. Oliver's Chapel. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, Litchville, ND, August 1986.
