Description	:	George Guthard was born in Darstedt, Germany, on 26 May 1852, and spent his boyhood days there. At the age of 16 years he came with his family to the United States. They settled in Omaha and a short time later moved to a farm about a mile east of Papillion. He later purchased a farm located three miles west of Papillion, and for a time was engaged in the saloon business in Papillion and later in south Omaha. They settled in Omaha and a short time later moved to a farm about a mile east of Papillion. He later purchased a farm located three miles west of Papillion, and for a time was engaged in the saloon business in Papillion and later in south Omaha. George married Mary Wehden 25 Sept 1881 in Papillion. They had five children: Anna Lousie (Denker), Maggie (died age 6 years), Maria (Cordes), Catherine Johanna (Ell), and Alvena M (Cordes). Mary died in 1898. On 26 Feb 1900, George married Caroline Proplasch, also a native of Germany. They had three children: Edward, George, and Caroline (Ellis). Around 1910, George and family moved to near Paxton, Nebraska, where they lived for many years. He and Caroline later moved to North Platte, Nebraska, where they resided with their daughter and family, Caroline and Henry Ellis. George's wife, Caroline, died in North Platte in 1926. George, who had been in failing health for some time, was brought from North Platte where he had been in the hospital, to the home of his daughter and family, Edward and Maria Cordes, in Papillion, Nebraska. This is where he spent his remaining days. George died in 1929 at the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 8 days.
