He was born in Unity on July 15, 1925, the son of Clyde E. and Manilla (Reynolds) Shorey. He was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad and drove a milk truck for Vernon Bagley. He also worked for Kenneth Tozier Spray Service. He was sexton of unity cemeteries for many years. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Virginia Mulherin Shorey of Unity; daughter Darlene and her husband Leroy Stubbs and children, Angela, Rosemary (Buffy) and Jason of Chesapeake, Va.; daughter, Georgie and her husband Robert Richardson and sons, Bruce, Gary and Darren of Freedom; son Edwin and his wife Betty-Jean and children, DeeDee, James, Debbie, Michael and Scott of Burnham; son Jeffery of Unity; son Guy Patrick and his wife Gail and daughter, Eve of Winslow; five brothers, Robert and his wife Leona of Fairfield Center, Glendon and his wife Mary, Aaron and his wife Janet, both of Warren, R.I., Arnold and his wife Ann of Nolensville, Texas, Norman and his wife Stella of Elmira, N.Y.; five sisters, Cleo Graham of Rockland, Velma MacDonald of Albion, Maxine Gechewich of Bristol, R.I., Joyce Miller and her husband Leo of Warren, R.I., and Virgie Reis of Waterville; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. One son, Gary, and two grandchildren, Gene and Timothy, died previously. Friends may call at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Unity, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 31. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday August 1, at the funeral home with the Rev. Stewart Price, pastor of the Unity Union Church, officiating.
