Description	:	(from the Courier Tribune George Koelzer died at his home near Perry, Oklahoma last Saturday morning March 16, 1901, after an illness of last fall while shucking corn, which caused blood poisoning to set in soon after. He was confined to his room all winter and most of the time to his bed. The deceased was the son of Mr. And Mrs. John Koelzer, the former deceased of St. Benedict and lived in that vicinity until about two years ago when he moved to Oklahoma and bought a quarter section of land on which he made his home till... Read More	(from the Courier Tribune George Koelzer died at his home near Perry, Oklahoma last Saturday morning March 16, 1901, after an illness of last fall while shucking corn, which caused blood poisoning to set in soon after. He was confined to his room all winter and most of the time to his bed. The deceased was the son of Mr. And Mrs. John Koelzer, the former deceased of St. Benedict and lived in that vicinity until about two years ago when he moved to Oklahoma and bought a quarter section of land on which he made his home till the time of his death. In 1890 he was married to Miss Anna Huls, a daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huls of St. Benedict. Four children from this union ranging in age from two weeks to nine years survive him. His widow has been in poor health all winter and at the time of his death was confined to her bed. His mother, his brothers, William and Joseph and sisters, Mesdames John and Pius Haug and Mary Broxterman live in the vicinity of St. Benedict, his sister, Mrs. Lizzie Hugo at West Point Nebraska, his brother, Andrew lives at Lindsay Texas, and his brother, Henry near Perry, Oklahoma. The last two accompanied his remains which were shipped here Monday. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Benedict Church Tuesday, and the remains were laid to rest in the St. Benedict cemetery. (Mar. 18 1901) Death always leaves in its path sadness and mourning but the orphaned children and wife unable to rise from her bed of sickness and pain and the husband and father stricken down in the prime of his manhood all appeal to the sympathy of the friends and relatives and make the death of Mr. Koelzer doubly sorrowful. The surviving members of the unfortunate family have the sympathy of all and it is hoped by their many friends the a kind providence will deal gently with them in the future and make them able to endure their sore affection. George was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in St. Benedict, Nemaha Co., KS at the time of his death, but was moved to Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baileyville, Nemaha Co., KS at the time of Anna's death.
